Objectives & Challenges

The primary goals for this project were simple:branding and clarity. First, the client wanted us to maintain the design direction of their parent website, Initially, we thought we might simply import the theme from their parent website. This would have made it easier to maintain the branding. But, the development firm who built out the original website made deep program customizations. Thus, it was easier and less expensive for the client to build from scratch mimicking the original design.

The second goal for this project was blog clarity. The presentation of the blog categories on the parent website seem cumbersome and confusing. Creative Sarasota was charged with creating a blog hierarchy that was easy to comprehend, manage, and navigate.

FourThought Feature Post Header ExampleFor the blog section we wanted to accomplish the basics.

  • feature the latest post.
  • present the 10 latest posts.
  • provide easy category navigation.
  • provide easy tag navigation.

WordPress, originally being a blog platform, makes this all simple. Thus, we really only needed to address highlighting the feature post. To do this we simply put a module in the header that displays the latest post title, excerpt, and image.
